The U Flesla (Flesl’s) spring – water from the depths
In poor and arid sandstone, water is very precious. At U Flesla, part of groundwater reaches the surface in the form of a spring.
What will you see? A spring, a water reservoir, a stone resting place, an information board. Sources and springs are formed in places where the level of groundwater reaches the Earth’s surface. U Flesla is a similar spring that feeds a water reservoir. There used to be a gamekeeper’s lodge recorded on maps from the 18th century that say “Beym Flossel” or “Beim Flössel” – i.e. At Flesl’s. The water reservoir, which now looks more romantic, was used to wash military equipment during the operation of the Ralsko military training area, as evidenced by the concrete ramp.
