Geology
Borný – the keeper of Máchovo jezero (Lake Mácha)
A basalt monadnock, proudly towering over the banks of Lake Mácha. It is inherently connected with the lake. As if it was its keeper.
What will you see? A hill of volcanic origin, basalt rock, sandstone rocks, a view ... A distinct hill, one of the landmarks of Lake Mácha. It rises exactly 185 metres above the lake’s surface. The core of the hill is formed of basalt rock that reaches the Earth’s surface at the very top. The rocks on Borný’s slopes are formed of sandstone. In the lower parts of the slopes, small rock towns developed in the sandstone. The marked hiking trail will take you to the very top of Borný, as well as to the scenic overlook which lies on its hillside, offering a view of Lake Mácha.
