Velká Buková – relict beech forests and distant views
Magnificent oaks rising skywards everywhere around you. In addition, you can enjoy a stunning view from the scenic plateau below the peak.
What will you see? A hill of volcanic origin, relict beech forests, distant views ... A significant peak rising among the endless pine forests. Its core consists of hard volcanic rock – much harder than the surrounding sandstone. The mineral-rich geological substrate is also connected with rich forests. The local herb-rich beech forests form a kind of oasis amid pine monocultures. In addition to the species-rich flora, you can also find some endangered species, e.g. Rosalia longicorn. The plateau below the peak of Velká Buková provides a beautiful view of the countryside.
