Kozí hřbet (Goatback) – steep slopes and rock towers
The distinct elongated ridge with steep slopes hides many beautiful sandstone rock towers.
What will you see? A distinct ridge with steep slopes, several sandstone rock towers, iron ore stopes ... The formation of Kozí hřbet is linked to the presence of a volcanic polzenite vein. When penetrating to the Earth’s surface, this rock became solid, ferruginizing the surrounding sandstone. There are several of such strengthened towers on Kozí hřbet that rise to a height of over 10 metres. Their surface displays ferrugination in the shape of stone roses. In the southwestern part, you can see small stopes – the remains of iron ore mining which took place here in the past.
