A quarry below Hamerský Špičák – fossilized flowers
A small sandstone quarry with examples of stone roses – ferruginized sandstone resembling petals of flowers.
What will you see? A small sandstone quarry, ferrugination of sandstone in the form of “stone roses”, ichnofossils ... The local sandstone quarry provides a breath-taking view. The iron that once flowed in the local sandstone in the form of hydrothermal fluids created an intricate mosaic of shapes the most perfect of which resemble rose petals. A closer look at these sandstones reveals small tunnels. Called ichnofossils, they are the remains of the activities of small animals that inhabited this area at the time when it was located on the seabed.
